Grand Canyon Tours: The Ultimate Family Vacation Getaway
The Two Access Points
The Grand Canyon can be accessed from the north and south sides, also referred to as the North Rim and the South Rim. The majority of visitors prefer the South Rim which has many tourist facilities. It is open 24 hours daily all-year round and is usually full during the summer, winter and long holidays. The North Rim is more peaceful and remote. Its access road is usually closed during cold months because of snow. Both sides are cool in evening and very cold during winter. Below the two rims, temperatures can get very hot which should be approached with caution by hikers.
The South Rim
Tusayan is a commercial area which has gas stations, restaurants, motels and the Grand Canyon Airport. Visitors will most likely stopover this place if they are approaching from the south on Highway 180. The towns of Flagstaff and Williams are nearby. One of the must-see attractions in Tusayan is the Grand Canyon IMAX Theater featuring a closer and more exciting view of the canyon walls never seen before.
The East Rim Drive ranges 26 miles long along the South Rim. There are several great viewing areas along the drive like Yaki Point, Watchtower at Desert View and Grandview Point. Here visitors will see a nice layout of the Painted Desert and the Colorado River. There is also the Tusayan Ruins and Museum featuring ancient Native American culture and traditions. West Rim Drive is closer to the edge providing several Grand Canyon views.
The Grand Canyon Village is one of the main stops inside the Grand Canyon National Park where tourists will find stores, souvenir ships, hotels, restaurants and the Park Headquarters and Visitor Center. There is just so much to see and do on a grand canyon tour that we could not possibly cover it all in just one article. In part 2 of this article we will share some more details with you about grand canyon tours, the ultimate family vacation getaway.

Washington is such a beautiful city. And it is rightfully called the Capital of the USA. The White House itself stands as an example for this. A monument of its class is a rare sight to see. And there are many more attractions that just cant be missed.
